It is often referred to simply as mud or as joint cement. I have used soap in my mud for years.if you know what your doing, there is nothing wrong with it.if you are boxing flats and you have to pull them 3 or 4 times to get all the pits/pocks out, you turn a 500bd job in to a 1500-2000bd job real quick.why work harderĪs for the OP, I don't really see a sense in it.I have done it, it makes it to where you know your beads are ready to skim the next day if in a situation where temps aren't ideal, but with 90-210 mud, there really isn't any need.only benefit is drying conditions and you can recoat in same day without the bubbles sometimes.what I have found is you can skim over quickset with whatever joint compound and if it isn't completly dry, next day when you sand you will have bubbles.you can skim over quickset with quickset when it is still wet enough to scrape laps in a peeling fashion and you get no bubbles when dryīeen many of those instances where you got some 5 or 20 and a heat gun and you can turn unhung patches to painted in same that I recommend doing it on a regular basis, but when you have patches that take 5 minutes to coat and 30 minutes to drive to. Joint compound (also known as drywall compound or Mastic) is a white powder of primarily gypsum dust mixed with water to form a mud the consistency of cake frosting, which is used with paper or fiber joint tape to seal joints between sheets of drywall to create a seamless base for paint on interior walls. It is specially formulated to provide excellent joint strength, even in poor drying. Quick Set Lite compound provides a lightweight, easy to sand finish for fast, smooth joint finishing. Re: Mixing setting and joint compound together? ProForm Quick Set Lite Setting Compound is a quick setting/hardening type joint compound that is 30 lighter than conventional setting compound, can be easily sanded, and requires less time and effort to work.
